The Mary H. Weir Public Library will present a community
workshop, Friday morning, May 15, 2015 from 9:00 – Noon. The subject of the workshop will be Resources for Community Planning and Grant Writing.
Guest Speakers will include:
Mr. John Deskins, Director, Bureau of Business and Economic Research, West Virginia University
Mr. Michael Paprocki, Director, Brooke, Hancock, Jefferson
Regional Planning Commission
Molly Krichten, Library Development Director, West Virginia Library Commission
Mr. Deskins will introduce the Bureau’s
mission and operations and give insight as to the data and sources used in
providing community information useful for West Virginia’s business planning. The
Bureau annually publishes West Virginia Economic Outlook.
Mr. Paprocki will introduce the Planning Commission’s mission and operations giving insight to data and information used for community planning.

Director Rik Rekowski of
the Weirton Library and Molly Krichten
will address public data and information resources of West Virginia’ public
libraries that may be useful for community planning. These will include resources provided by the Foundation Center for grant research and writing which are available at the Mary H. Weir Public Library.
This workshop is open to library patrons and community groups interested in
learning about statistical data relating to West Virginia and applying this data
in grant writing and planning for our communities.
