During the month of June, the library will be encouraging
library patrons of all ages to vote for their favorite classic children’s book.
Patrons can vote two ways. There will be a display between the children’s
section and the periodical section of the library listing over 100 classic
children’s books. Ballots will be available under the poster. Patrons can write
their favorite on a ballot and drop it in the container under the poster. This
poster contains suggestions, but patrons may write in their own choices. One of
the definitions of classic books is that they have stood the test of time, so
we are looking for books that have entertained a couple of generations of
children, not just current bestsellers. The second way that patrons may vote is
to email their selection to mhwpl.library@weirton.lib.wv.us.
The titles of the children’s books that get the most votes will be put on the
risers of the inside staircase on the Sarah Lane side of the building.
