As you may know, the library has been closed to patrons since March 16th. We will remain closed until it is determined to be safe to reopen.
In the meantime:
If your library card expires in March or April, it will automatically be renewed. If it has expired before that, you can call the library on weekdays to see about renewing it. All materials that were due in March or April have been renewed until the first of May.
These digital services will be available during this time:
WV Deli - thousands of fiction and nonfiction ebooks, audiobooks, and movies
Freegal - music of many types
RB Digital - audiobooks, ebooks, and over 80 magazines (best link from the blog)
Gale EBooks - Reference books on many topics including many on medicine, social science, education. Additional reference books from Salem Press may be found under the title History of the Sixties near the bottom of the main page.
Heritage Quest - Genealogical information including census records, books, Revolutionary War records, Freedman's Bank records, and obituaries.
Very limited staff will be in the building Monday through Friday from 9-5 to answer phone and email requests and to sanitize and check in items from the book drop. There will be no one available in the building on Saturday. The refdesk@weirton.lib.wv.us email account is being monitored so you can send your questions there.
The Facebook account is being monitored by two staff members working from home. We have been posting crafts, virtual story times, projects to do at home, stories read by authors and celebrities, notices from the city and county, a few library or book oriented jokes to lighten things up, and educational sites with free access during this time to our Facebook page.
If you need to contact us by phone, please be patient. The staff that is in the building is doing other tasks while monitoring the phone. Sometimes we are on the other line or in another part of the building.
During the time the building is staffed, we are opening the foyer at the front entrance so that people can access tax forms if needed. Book sale books have also been placed in the foyer. Anyone who needs something to read may take these for free. Since the space is small, we would request that only one person at a time use it to maintain social distancing.
Please stay well everyone!
