Meeting space is limited. Priority is given to library programs and our community non-profit partners on a first request, first served basis. Programs should be free and open to the public. To inquire about meeting room space, call the library at 797-8510, Monday through Thursday or Saturday 9-5 and ask to speak to the Assistant Director. We prefer at least one week's notice. Events should be scheduled to end 1/2 hour before library closing time. Those attending events in the meeting room should park behind the library off Walnut Street in the library lot or the city lot behind it and enter through the Walnut Street doors.

Library Temporarily Closing due to Covid-19 Outbreak

Mary H. Weir Public Library Statement Concerning COVID-19

Dear Library Friends and Cardholders,

Effective Monday, March 16, 2020 the Library will be closed to the public
with all library and public meeting programs suspended until March 31, 2020 and or until further notice.

Staff will report and be available in the Library to maintain library network operations, and for continued public access to the online virtual library services. Public access to the building will be closed with staff in house available and ready to provide assistance electronically. Patrons may call the Library at 304-797-8510, and also email the Library at for information, questions, and assistance with accessing the Library’s virtual online collection for adults and children of e-books, audio collections, films, music, magazine collections for one’s own personal computer, tablets, and smart phones.
Library staff will be available to assist public electronically between 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Saturday effective March 16, 2020 to March 31, 2020.
Patrons will be able to continue to return books in the Library’s book drop conveniently located on Sarah Lane entrance of the Library.

Until further notice, the Library will not be accepting donations of physical materials of used books, cds, DVDs and archival materials. If you are planning to donate used materials, please consider holding on to items until a time when we are able to accept them.

Income tax forms will be made available for public access in the Library’s front electric door vestibule (facing Main Street) for self-serve access. Outer electric doors will open only with interior electric doors closed.

The Library plans to continually update communications through its blog at, and Face Book with information that may be helpful and timely during this adjusted service period.

Our Children’s Specialist will be accessible by emailing and telephoning the Library.

The Adult Literacy Program is suspended until further notice.
As the Library’s public meeting room will be closed, please call the Library and or your organization to determine status of their meetings and workshops. Please check the Library’s web page for update and status of future meetings.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) assisting income filers has been suspended until further notice.

The situation with the Coronavirus is evolving daily. Library will continue to keep you informed of changes to our services. We encourage you to frequently check for updates via our blog, and Facebook page.

The Library’s staff is here to assist you accessing the Weirton Library’s electronic downloadable collections.

All of the above mentioned measures will be implemented until further notice.
