Position available: Experienced part time janitor/custodian needed. Pay
rate: $9.19 per hour
The Mary H. Weir Public Library has a part time janitorial/housekeeping
position for an experienced person who has cleaning, handyman, electrical and
carpentry skills.
The individual must be able to lift and carry items including boxes of
books and ladders. The individual must be able to climb and perform maintenance
tasks while standing on a ladder. Tasks may include shoveling snow, cutting
grass, clearing leaves, cleaning restrooms, running a vacuum, cleaning shelving
and windows, and operating gas and electrical powered tools and equipment
including a snow blower. The individual should be able to perform basic
maintenance tasks, oversee supply inventory, order supplies by phone or online,
communicate with outside repair services, relay those communications to library
administration, and perform other tasks for the facility not listed in this
description as needed. The individual will drive library vans, perform basic maintenance,
and maintain vehicle logs. The individual should be self-motivated. Employee
evaluations will include demonstrated ability to recognize what needs to be
done and to accomplish tasks efficiently.
The individual must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving
record and must be able to pass a security check.
Education requirement: Must have a GED or high school diploma
Individual must be available to work mornings, afternoons, and/or
evenings, weekdays and/or weekends as needed. Position will be available until
filled.
