In conjunction with the Bread Basket's Hunger Awareness Program and
our live online visit with Lois Brandt, the author of Maddi's Fridge,
the library is collecting food for fines until November 14th. For each
canned or boxed nonperishable food item brought in, the library will
take $2 off of a fine on returned items.
If you are giving to a
food pantry this year, please consider the following much needed items: Boxed Mac
and Cheese or Potatoes, Canned Tuna or Chicken, Canned Soup, Peanut
Butter, Jelly, Canned Vegetables, Rice, Dried Beans, Pasta, Spaghetti
Sauce and Cereal. Please make sure the food is not outdated.

Columbus Day Holiday
The library will be closed Monday for the Columbus Day holiday. We will
be open from 10-5 today, and from 10-8 Tuesday. Today will be the last
day for the Book Sale in the garage. We will continue to have a small
selection of books for sale in the lobby.
Annual WWC Basket Raffle
The baskets are coming! The Literary Department of the GFWC WWC are
bringing in baskets for their annual Basket Raffle. They will be put on
display as soon as they all arrive. There will be a Steelers and a WVU
basket again this year. Past basket themes have also included Chocolate,
Italian, Tea and Toys. The drawing will be held in early December and
proceeds benefit the library.

Recently, we were thrilled to be gifted with a magnifier to enlarge
print for those with low vision. This is an older model designed for
the visually impaired with a lighted black and white screen. The
display switches from positive to negative and varies the magnification.
This equipment makes it much easier to read fine print on documents or magnify anything that needs to be made larger to be seen clearly. It will be a great benefit to all of us whose vision isn't what it used to
be.
